Research on the Quaternary stratigraphy, is the foundation of exploiting and utilizating Quaternary resources, and to carry out hydrogeology, engineering geology and other constructive work, but also an import part of the research about environmental evolution, climate change and disaster prediction (such as tracing of active faults, ground subsidence etc.) an so on.Beijing is China’s capital and political and cultural center, located in the northern part of North China Plain, Beijing plain area of Quaternary strata are well developed, active tectonics is quite developed, large earthquakes have occurred. However, the study about Quaternary geology in Beijing was first starting from Zhoukoudian, after nearly 50 years, Quaternary research is gradually extended to the plain area of Beijing, and has continued to the present. By the way, the research contents are more focused on the Quaternary stratigraphic division, paleoclimate, paleoenvironment, and so the ancient landscape, subjects on the relationship between the Beijing Plain Quaternary stratigraphy and new tectonic movement, we can say that is still very limited.Tectonics have a control function to the sediment thickness and shape. Based on this theory, we can believe that, through the study on Quaternary stratigraphy within the plain area of Beijing, especially the thickness of Quaternary sediment, in turn, a certain extent, we can directly reveal the corresponding law of new tectonic movement, so as to provide more specific results and data with reference to the Beijing’s city construction projects and disaster research.The completion of this thesis is based on the project "Target Area of Beijing to Establish a Database of Drilling Data and Three-dimensional Visualization of Quaternary Strata". The author do a comprehensive analysis and treatment, to the 2034 drilling data collected in the project, and refer to the previous literature and related information, the main results obtained are as follows: 1. Division of the Quaternary strata within plain area of Beijing is proposed, it can be divided into the lower Pleistocene, middle Pleistocene, Upper Pleistocene, and Holocene, and summarized the characteristics of the each era;2. Drawing up isopach maps of the Beijing Plain Quaternary, Lower Pleistocene, Middle Pleistocene, Upper Pleistocene, Holocene as a scale of 1 to 50000, and analyzing the lithology characteristics of each period;3. Based on the analysis of Quaternary lithology, lithofacies and thickness characteristics, making a discussion on the new tectonic movement characteristics within Beijing Plain and the relationship between fault activities and deposition centers, that the Machikou-Sunhe area in the northwest and Niubaotun in the southeast, are deposition centers along the whole period of Quaternary within Beijing Plain.
