Special topography and complex landform leads to the difficulty of mapping of the west.Therefore,the west lacks in large scale topographic maps, which has severely hindered the development of the west. With the introduction of UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle) low-altitude photogrammetric system to surveying,a new way is provided for the aerial photogrammetric field and it brings a revolution in the technology of UAV in large scale mapping。UAV has its unique advantages.First of all,the weather and state of ground has little impact on the data collection.Secondly,measuring mode is more flexible.Last but not least,the data processing of interior work is more efficient.Those advantages are beneficial to the mapping of large scale topographic maps.Therefore,it’s necessary to use UAV for large scale mapping of the West. At present, adopting digital photogrammetric system for UAV data processing makesthe mapping fast and accurate, fully showing its advantage in the production.Current digital photogrammetry system isstill in the development and innovation state.The emergence of more and more intelligent digital photogrammetric system improves the efficiency of the large scale mapping in the west.This article takes AgisoftPhotoscan software as an example, describing its process of the production of large scale topographic map and reflecting its high efficiency of mapping done with digital photogrammetric system.Taking the national 315 project in Qinghai province as an example, we use the system to generate the DOM, DEM, and the three-dimensional modeling,and to analyze and evaluate the products.
