In recent years, China’s urbanization and its rapid development makes the environment of urban area change obviously. Reinforced concrete buildings spring up, dense concrete pavement are laid, which are contributing to the deterioration of the urban climate, result in urban heat island. In all kind of the existing city underlying surface, water certainly plays a significant role to ease the hot climate and to improve the thermal comfort of the city. Based on the above situation, this paper has carried out the following aspects of research:First of all, by combing with the present situation of related research, the author determine the research scope and choose the suitable research method of this study, namely, using the thermal infrared remote sensing technology from the macroscopic, mesoscale angle and CFD simulation to research the effect of water on the thermal environment in the Nanhai Foshan city of hot and humid areas.Secondly, by combining satellite map and thermal infrared remote sensing image, choose 5 main water which located in Nanhai district, Foshan city from all to make on-site field investigation, and get its status quo and extract influence factors which can be used for subsequent analysis, aiming to lay the foundation for evaluating and measuring the effect of water on the thermal environment accurately.Then, the author analysis the change degree of water body to improve the thermal environment of two decades years based on ArcGIS and ENVI platform. And study the improvement degree of water bodies acting on various types of city underlying surface in winter and summer of the same year, compare the degree of cooling between two typical cooling underlying surface that water and green space using thermal infrared remote sensing technology. Then verify the improve function and the quantitative relationship of the water to the urban thermal environment in Nanhai district by refining and analyzing five different types of water.Finally, the author establish the standard model according to the field investigation and remote sensing analysis of influence factor, study the thermal circulation in nature between water and surrounding city underlying surface under the condition of no wind to explain the phenomena on the improvement of the thermal environment of the water body from the theory level.By the above research we can learn that in the hot summer and warm winter area, the water ’s improvement degree to the thermal environment has a tendency to increase along with the increase of heat island intensity. For the improvement of thermal environment, water is stronger than the green space. What’s more, water body length,width,area and depth has an obvious negative correlation factor with its temperature, and these factors has obvious cold spillover effect, the maximum impact scope and degree are 1.71 ℃,300 m;1.83, 350m; 2.84 ℃, 250 m and the water in this region have a cooling effect of both winter and summer, the influence of summer is stronger while that of winter decreased significantly. The influence to different construction land is various too, the maximum temperature reduction of land is commercial land, which highest temperature reduction up to 1.19℃, the largest temperature lower range is residential land, which largest cold overflow range up to 200 m. Make the most use of the water and increase the developing intensity of water body will be great help for the improvement of the urban thermal environment.
