This topic is an applied research aimed at the automatic monitoring of polar glacier movement,which is founded by ‘The comprehensive inspection and evaluation of Polar environment’(ID:CHINAER 2015-02-02) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China ‘Research of sea ice thickness monitoring method based on capacitive sensing technology’(ID:41176080).North and south poles is closely related to the global climate, ecological environment,human life and a series of problems of social development.With the progress of science and technology and the advancement of human to polar investigation project in north and south poles,and its important is the exploration of glaciers.The glacier is sensitive to global climate change response, which is a magnifying glass and indicators of climate change.Ice is the most severe area in glacier change.Monitoring the glacier movement to the study of the polar ice material balance, global climate change, the evolution of the polar cryosphere and biosphere, and other fields has important significance.Due to the special environmental conditions of north and south poles,it is limited by geography, climate, human and material resources, and many other adverse factors in the research and exploration,so the progress has been slow.The main monitoring method on moving glaciers are field measurements,aerial survey, remote sensing image measurement method at home and abroad at present.But these techniques has its disadvantages,such as low accuracy, lowefficiency and unable to long-term continuous automatic monitoring.Glacier mobile monitoring system is designed and integrated independently in this paper which is analyzed current situation of the glacier monitoring technology at home and abroad and the advantages and disadvantages,considered the significance of various monitoring methods,aimed at the actual situation of the polar glacier monitoring.Ice bracket is the carrier of monitoring system in the system which is study and established a new and reliable monitoring plan and developed the monitoring software on the basis of glacier monitoring requirements.The scheme is a research and development of glacier mobile monitoring system which is integrated fixed Single-chip microcomputer control module, a differential module, GPS module, radio module, iridium module, battery module on the ice bracket.The system can realize long time continuous automatic remote data transmission and high precision monitoring under the environment of the polar.By using modern high precision of RTK measuring technology as the means and the radio wireless transmission technology as the backing.The single chip microcomputer collector can sampling, extraction, storage, sending,analyze and processing useful data through single chip microcomputer controller.This monitoring system has some advantages of high accuracy,good economical efficiency,real-time and continuity is strong.This monitoring system had carried out field trials in the domestic and the field application test in the 32 times Antarctic scientific expedition.Experimental results show that the monitoring system has the advantages of high precision,reliable stability, automatic and unmanned duties.It provides data support and a new method for polar ice mobile monitoring.
