A series of transient electromagnetic methods have been tested for the direct detection of oil and gas and the monitoring of remaining oil in oil field in recent years, and many important results have been achieved. The YUTEM method is a long offset transient electromagnetic exploration method jointly developed by Yangtze University and international companies. It has following features: ①.The dipole length for electric field measurement can be 20-100m, so the lateral resolution is ensured;②.Three component (Ex, Ey and Hz) measurements can be performed on a single site; ③.Recording all time series of both transmitter and receiver’s signal, so data can be processed in time domain directly, its flexible and convenient; ④.Both electric resistivity and polarization parameters can be extracted from the observed time series at the same time. The survey area for this YUTEM test is closed to the urban and industrial area, and heavy interferences of electromagnetic noises presented. Through the study of regional geological data and drilling data, inferred the depth and thickness of oil and gas reservoirs, and understand the geological structure and its trend. Design project, including the selection of power generator, emission source location, the launch distance and the offset length. At the same time, according to the surface environment, to design the position of the measuring line and the measuring point. At last, Pre process data. After the late related geological data confirmed, YUTEM method can effectively reflect the spatial distribution of the electric properties and the polarization of the target area. It succeeds to achieve the goal of detection of the remaining oil and dynamic monitoring of oil and gas reservoir. Through the understanding of the development status of the remaining oil reservoirs, it helps to guide the development and deployment of oil and gas fields in the next step, and it is helpful to reduce the cost of oil and gas production, improve the oil recovery efficiency, and achieve the goal of maximizing the benefits under the limited conditions.
