Nonlinear material play a very important role for the study of nonlinear optics. The research of nonlinear material can help us make better nonlinear optical device. Relative to the inorganic materials, organic materials is relatively new and attractive for outstanding properties. In this paper, the nonlinear optical properties of the quinoline cyanine dyes are investigated. The nonlinear optical properties of the quinoline cyanine dyes are studied by Z-scan technology at 532 nm, we find it have reverse saturation absorption. However,it will occur light damage effect under the big energy. Combined with time-resolved pump probe with phase object(POPP) and five- level model, its dynamics of excited-state nonlinearity is discussed further and its nonlinear parameters is obtained by numerical simulation. Results showed that the quinolone cyanine dyes have larger excited state absorption cross section and short excited-state lifetime. In order to study and verify the excited state spectral characteristics of the quinoline cyanine dyes, we test its excited state absorption spectrum from 475 to 780 nm, the result shows it is excited state absorption at the short wave(475 nm to 570 nm), and stimulated radiation at the long wave(650 nm to 780 nm). With the help of the absorption spectral under the characteristic wavelength, we verify the correctness of the previous experiment. It illustrates the excited state absorption properties of the sample and shows that the sample has good excitation spectral features. It will be a very promising nonlinear optical materials.
