Based on the Seismological Bureau of Jiangsu and Changzhou program“Detection to Active Fault and Evaluation of Seismic Risk to the City, the article analysis the controlling sediment cores. During the active faults exploration in urban area,the stratigraph of Quaternary period, Stratigraphic Classification, isochronous stratigraphic frameworks and Basin evolution are very important. The Quaternary stratigraphy and Sedimentology in South of Jiangsu and the Yangtze River Delta region are plenty,but the research only depend on the transgression layers which are able to output marine fossils,lack of the continental one. By research the Nantong、Suzhou and Changzhous’ program,collect and analysis the results before,using stratigraphical classification、drill lithology、sporopollen analysis and sedimentary analysis,the article analysis the Transgression layer compare the previous results, we obtain main conclusions as following:1 Based on a study of lithostratigraphy and chronostratigraphy of the drill core,Quaternary in south Jiangsu area is subdivided into the Holocene Rudong Formation(Qhr),upper Pleistocene Gehu Formation(Qp3g)and Kunshan Formation(Qp3k),middle Pleistocene Qidong Formation(Qp2q),and lower Pleistocene Haimen Formation(Qp1h).2 Corresponding three cities drill lithology、sporopollen analysis and sedimentary,find out all the five correspond respectively to five transgression events since Quaternary, namely, Zhenjiang transgression in early Holocene, Gehu transgression in middle period of late Pleistocene, Taihu transgression in early late Pleistocene, Shanghai transgression in early middle Pleistocene and Rugao transgression in middle early Pleistocene.3 Corresponding the five transgressions in the area,and comparing the continental facies with the marine facies,lead to the spatial characteristics.And comparing them to the MIS(marine isotope stages),we connect the transgressions time with the whole world geologic climate.
