At present, the number of wild licorice is decreasing due of the lower natural germination rate and its breeding difficulties, so artificial cultivation of licorice is a necessary method to solve the shortage of licorice. The germination rate and the physiological indexes could be improved by using the physical and chemical method. High voltage electrostatic field technology as a simple and convenient operation has been relatively mature, and it will not pollute the environment, which is the need for the current environment. In this study, the seeds of licorice were treated via the high voltage electrostatic field in order to improve the germination rate, the quality, and the physiological and biochemical indexes, and to solve the shortage of licorice resources.This paper studied that the effect of different electric field intensity on the germination of licorice and physiological indexes of licorice seeds. Main conclusions are as follows:1.The germination rate of licorice seeds was the highest 42.33% after seeds had been treated with negative high voltage electrostatic field of 25kv/cm for 10min.It was 17.33% higher than the control.The germination rate of licorice seeds immersed in sulfuric acid for 35min was the highest 80.67, and the sulfuric acid was treated with negative high voltage electrostatic field of 18kv/cm for 25min firstly.It was 17.34% higher than the control.2. With increase of growth time of licorice, seedling of relative water content reduced, and seedling root shoot ratio, seedling root length and plant height improved after electric field treatment3. After detection, licorice acid formed in licorice root in 75 days. Overall, content of licorice acid of 18kv/cm group is lower than control group. And the content of 15kv/cm group was lower than that in the control group at 75 days, while the content of 15kv/cm group was higher than the control group at 90 days.4. With increase of growth time of licorice, the contents of chlorophyll a in each group increased first and then decreased. Overall, the content of 18kv/cm group was higher than that of the control group, and 15kv/cm group was lower than that of the control group. Chlorophyll b content is sometimes high and sometimes low. The 18kv/cm group was higher than the control group in the first 45 days, and lower than the control group during 45-90 days. However,15kv/cm group was lower than that of the control group.5. The soluble protein content was basically stable before 45 days,which is slight higher than the control group, while the control group was not stable and sometimes high and sometimes low.
