Land resource is the non-renewable resource for human existence and development, different ways of land use and characteristics reflect the degree and efficiency of land resource utilization. The human activities are continually disturbing the type of land use, the land resource of our country, especially the preponderant land resources is relatively scarce, and the contradiction is more prominent between human and land in mountainous areas, so this paper, taking the upper reaches of Minjiang river as the research area.This paper used satellite image, DEM, landscape, social economic data in 1984-2015, combined with GIS and RS technology to analyze space-time evolution and characteristics of the land use type of the upper reaches of Minjiang river,and further reveal the response mechanism of land use to natural and human social activities.By constructing the land use type of variation based on remote sensing image spot detection and extraction model, this study explored the method for acquiring land use type data in the study area, and established 4 land use type data sets in the study area,which contain 1990 s, 2000, 2010 and 2015. And carried on the quantitative analysis,this study revealed the region’s main land types are grassland, forest land, and the other land use status of land use type distribution are less. No significant changes in the area of general land use structure, the area has been given priority to woodland and grassland, followed by the cultivated land. In double disturbance of nature and human social activities, forest land, grassland and the cultivated land were particularly frequentmutual transformation, cultivated land and construction land showed the increasing trend, affected by the earthquake, unused land changed obviously.Research shows that the population distribution of the upper reaches of Minjiang river is relatively concentrated, and more frequent human activities in central and northern land use type diversification degree and land use degree index on the high side,the other area was low. By analyzing the four research period of each land use type in different terrain factors on the spatial distribution and variation characteristics, and the change trend of woodland and grassland was basic unanimously, alternating between woodland and grassland into roll-out concentration occurred at an altitude of 2000-4800 meters between middle mountain and the mountain, the slope was 15°~25° slope and half sunny slope. The change trend of cultivated land and construction land basic unanimously, mainly occurred at the river valley, and between the middle mountains and the high mountains under the altitude of 3800 meters and under 25° slope.To analysis the driving force of population factors driving force for social and economic of the four kinds of main land use types change data, this paper got the corresponding regression model, calculated the drive from 1990 to 2015 in cultivated land, forest land, grassland, construction land changes in the population of the main social economic factor. Human disturbance factor was the driving factor of land use type change of the upper reaches of Minjiang river, especially big policy guidance, was the strong disturbance factor which drive the change.There is a large optimization space of the land use types of the upper reaches of Miniiang river, the results of this study can be for learning about land use in this regional and evolution law, and provides data and theoretical support for improving the regional land use potential, people’s livelihood, production, ecological space and sustainable use of land resource.
