Preliminary Studies On Freshwater Monoraphid In Hainan Province

Hainan Island belongs to Hainan Province, located in the northern margin of tropical, tropical monsoon climat. Algae samples were collected in February 2012, July 2014 respectively from Hainan Province. Habitat types include brook, waterhole, swamps, puddle etc. Plankton habitats were collected by 25# plankton nets, attachment habitats using tweezers, and toothbrush scraping. Specimens collected in the field directly fixed with 4% formaldehyde. Treatment it by three acid method, mading permanent mounting by Naphrax.Slides were observed and photographed by optical microscope(Zeiss A2) and scanning electron microscope(Hitachi S4800). Totally,46 taxa were observed belonging to 7 genera.The morphological characters of all species were described, and sampling information was given. All species were accompanied by optical microscope photos, a part of species were accompanied by scanning electron microscope photos.Within our work,10 new record diatom were observed, they are Achnanthidium subhudsonis var. kraeuselii (Cholnoky) Cholnoky, Achnanthidium exigua var. elliptica Hustedt, Achnanthidium acsiae Wojtal et al., Planothidium incuriatum Carlos,Wetzel & Van De Vijver, Planothidium miotum (Carter & Denny) Lange-Bert, Psamothidium imperfecta Schimanski, Achnanthidium caravelense Novais & Ector, Achnanthidium polonicum Wojtal (Bily & Marvan) Lange-Bertalot, Achnanthidium ennediense Compere & Van der Vijver, Achnanthidium rivulare Potapova & Ponader.4 In the study, The morphological characters of this species were descriped and ecological distribution characteristic were discussed also..Most of these species are general freshwater widespread, and widely distributed in the world. The Monoraphid that were collected by different sites and habitats were compared species constituent and distribution. The species in stream and puddle are abundant.
