The expression of terrain on map is developed with the technology of science and the demand of human. With the development and improvement of 3S and 4D productions, and the progress of computer graphic technology, it makes the production of different forms of map created by computer be possible, which greatly enriched the variety of map. It has become a new mode by using the high precision production of 4D to produce digital terrain landscape map, Which not only has the value of traditional map information, but has the artistic value and a high ornamental. The purpose of researching the optimization method and technology of digital terrain landscape map is that we explore a new expression of terrain and enrich the types and effect of terrain landscape map expressions on the basis of previous study. The main contents of this papers can be summarized as follows:1.This paper studied on the historical process of terrain visualization, and analyzed the digital terrain landscape map from three aspects: the research of data processing, key technology, and practice. Through the analysis of current researches, proposed the optimization of scene visibility and display effect.2.This paper researched on the theory of digital terrain landscape map, summarized its characteristics, analyzed the base data of digital terrain landscape map production, introduced the production principle, summarized the production mode of digital terrain landscape map, and analyzed the mapping features and applicability of several mapping model.3.This paper put forward the method to optimize the scene visible through the terrain deformation through the analysis of the scene visible meaning, and studied the terrain deformation method based on progressive projection, based on eye tracking, and the variational method in detail. The terrain deformation based on progressive projection which treat the terrain as a whole, which is conveniently, and can improve the visual effect of the digital terrain landscape map significantly; The terrain deformation based on eye tracking can produce specific targeted deformation according to the terrain, which can ensure the visibility of the designated geographical features; The terrain deformation based on variational method took into account the visibility of geographical features and the size of terrain deformation, and it considered the size of terrain deformation when increase the visibility of geographical features.4.This paper studied the optimization method of the digital terrain landscape map display effect, through remote sensing image processing, texture synthesis and the 3D display of vector data. Details are: the image fusion technology of enhancing remote sensing image’s terrain information and the technology of enhancing remote sensing image’s terrain information based on DEM were studied; Planar texture synthesis method based on the sample which have hand-painted effect was studied, and a new texture synthesis strategy was proposed; For the distortion of vector elements with texture method, put forward the display method of three dimensional vector elements with the geometry and texture method, which has the accuracy of geometric method and the convenience of texture method.5.This paper experimented with the technologies about the optimization of scene visibility and display in the terrain landscape map producing, and proved the feasibility of methods and technologies in this paper.
