The Dawangzhuang iron deposit is located in Yongcheng city, eastern of Henan province, belongs to the Yongcheng-Huaibei clustered skarn Fe(Cu-Au) deposits in the southern margin of North China Craton. Funded by Henan Geological Explortation Foundation, great achievements have been made in the latest exploration of the deposit with the medium scale of total proven resources/reserves of 14.45 million tons. However, no articles concerning the deposit are available, geological characteristics, metallogeny and ore potential are treated tentatively in the paper. The Dawangzhuang iron deposit is covered through by thick Cenozoic sediments up to 140m. Great differences of magnetic properties between magnetite ore and wallrocks are observered, and high magnetic anomalies are induced by the iron orebeds/lodes, Which can be used as one of the important signs of prospecting. The Dawangzhuang deposit occurs in the outer contact zones between Yanshannian granitoids and Middle Ordovician limestones.Yongcheng composite fold controls the distribution of orebodies, anticline axial portions are primary space for metallogeny, fissured and interlayed weak zones are sites of accommodation for ore-bearing fluids.According to the ground magnetic amomalies, sizes, occurrences, depth of known orebodies of various ore blocks, several targets are outlined both "in the periphery and in the depth of ore blocks, and are further classified into A, B, C categories.2 targets of category A,1 target of category B,2 targets of category C is proposed in the paper.
