China is a serious earthquake disaster country with high frequency earthquake activity, high strength, the hypocenters shallower and wide distribution. According to the earthquake experts predict, the next twenty years will be frequent earthquake activity period in china. Therefore, it is necessary to study the railway earthquake monitoring alarm system to China’s national conditions, in order to improve the safety of railway.This thesis first analyzes the USA earthquake monitoring alarm system. The basic idea of USA earthquake scientific research is how to quickly determine the magnitude using P wave. This method can provide a few seconds to ten seconds of warning time before the arrival of destructive S wave. Then analyzed Japan’s the UrEDAS, Urgent Earthquake Detection and Alarm System. Which is an intelligence system to issue earthquake warning signals, using rapid estimation of earthquake parameters of P wave and S wave data, and combining with the statistical results of existing earthquake damage. Its greatest feature is that the single stations using the first motion of P wave can determine the hypocenters parameters. Finally analyzed the present of China’s railway earthquake monitoring alarm system. In order to reduce earthquake losses, it is very necessary to construct railway earthquake monitoring alarm system, to make the train reduce speed or stop before the earthquake, to avoid train derailment and subversion and to reduce the loss of life and property.This thesis analyzes the railway earthquake monitoring alarm system status, establishes the design goal, which is to develop a set of high reliability, high security and high availability of railway earthquake monitoring alarm system. Then this thesis gives the hardware scheme of the railway earthquake monitoring alarm system using Samsung Corp S3C2440 A embedded processor. The software scheme uses the WINCE6.0 operating system. Through a series of experiments to verify the accuracy and reliability of railway earthquake monitoring alarm system design. Finally the summary, looks forward to the next step work.
