A Study On “self-similarity” And Its Ceramics Practice

In this paper, I found a corresponding point to the background and definition of fractal theory which expressed “self-similarity” within my own creation.Self-similarity is the most obvious feature of modern fractal theory. Fractal theory is a modern theory,but the origin is from nature just like ceramic is. This phenomenon is actually older than human civilization, and it has been applied to and reflected in contemporary art. Also, it could provide a solution to the aesthetic predicament of modern industrial society which is led by science and reason. At the same time, it would be able to expand the width of the sensitivity and philosophic ground of art.Self-similarity is now being perceived as a fertile source of artistic inspiration due to its attractiveness. As a result, a number of studies are under progress on possible applications of fractal image in various fields. With that, in the process of studying, I obtained various theories. In this paper, through creative ceramic work which combined fractal theory and ceramic along with repetitive behavior and the structure of art work, it completed practical research on the “self-similarity” art form.
