Tianshan is a largest orogenic belt within Eurasian continental。now the people agree with that Tianshan Mountains tectonic activity mainly based overthrust since the Quaternary such as Nappe structure of north Tianshan and South Tianshan Kuqa Depression and Keping Nappe Structure. This paper mainly studies the Beiluntai fault which is located in the south of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang,The fracture length is more than 300 km, since the late Quaternary the fault active strongly, The North Beiluntai fault controls the distribution of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata,Along the fault we can see many Paleozoic thrust to the Mesozoic and Cenozoic. the local cutting Holocene phenomenon, Beiluntai fault is a long-term successive active fault zone. Along the fracture distribution has many ancient earthquake deformation clear bands, showing that the fault is active and strong.Due to the fault distance of Korla City, only 10 kilometers, in Korla City Development Planning had an impact, and the fault activity may to around the city of Kuerchu disasters caused by earthquakes. This paper based on a large number of master data of regional geology and digestion of the results of previous studies. by using remote sensing method, method of geomorphology, exploratory trench and chronology method for the fault geometry characteristics, the geological features and typical section of the ancient earthquake has carried on the preliminary research.Through research we obtained the following conclusions:1.Beiluntai fault is located between South Tianshan and the Tarim Basin, reverse thrust is one of its most important tectonic deformation. The overall fracture presented NWW-EW trending, total length of about 300 km, fault plane inclined n, obliquity of 50-80° along the fault not only the formation of the typical fault landform features, but also the existence of many ancient seismic events.2.Beiluntai fault from west to East is divided into 5 major natural discontinuous paragraph: Layi Braque to an ditch section(130km), an ditch to ake Aiken ditch section(50km), Kuerchu to jig generation Braque segment(40km), Gaag Dei Burak to Korla(20km) and Kuerchu to the iron gate closed section of the reservoir(100km).3.Through micro topography measurement, fault scarps topographic survey and exploration study on the trench profile analysis we found in Cameroon Cameroon of La Sa pull ditch Atamu trench near happened three times large ancient seismic events and the time are located in the late Quaternary.4.In Korla Dihe agricultural trenches near, we through geological and geomorphological features of the research and exploration groove profiles analysis found that the region has had two large paleo seismic events.
