The polarization state of light will be changed in the process of reflecting with the target. Polarization properties have close relationships with target material, geometrical characteristics and polarization state of incidence. Polarization methods can improve the accuracy of target detection, which is complementary to conventional optical detection technique. The polarization characteristics of surface reflection have a great significance in different fields such as national military defense, polarization remote sensing detection and optical engineering. For the multiple scattering on real material rough surface, considering the polarization of light, we establish a new polarized Monte Carlo model of rough surface scattering in this thesis. The correctness of this model is verified by comparison with the experimental data. The regularity of polarization properties of one dimensional and two dimensional rough surfaces under multiple factors are simulated and analyzed. The main work of the thesis is as following:(1) The feature of rough surface is simulated based on mathematic model of surface. Through the analysis and discussion of the relative parameters which influence the statistical distribution of the rough surface, model parameters are chosen. And, one and two dimensional Gaussian rough surfaces are generated.(2) Using Stokes vectors descriptor, the polarized Monte Carlo model of multiple scattering on rough surface is established based on Geometric Optics Approximation theory. And the validity of this model is proved by comparing with the measurements data.(3) Considering the topographic characteristics of the surface and the polarization of incident light, the change laws of light scattering intensity and polarization properties such as polarization angle and polarization degree for metal material under multiple factors are simulated and analyzed based on the polarized Monte Carlo model of rough surface.(4) For the dielectric materials target surface, the polarization properties under different surface roughness are analyzed. The simulation results show that the circularly polarized component of reflected light is nearly zero.
