In recent years, the social development and acceleration of industrialization have increased the speed of climate change, which attracts a great attention of governments and different sectors of society. As an important part of ecological system, vegetation’s growth, distribution, and development is closely related the climate. The research on vegetation, in some way, is the key to ecological environment research. As satellite remote sensing technology develops rapidly, the continuous and extensiveness monitor by remote sensing method has a decisive advantage. The improving image resolution makes research more accurate and sensitive. The researchers can gain more information to propose solutions based on different questions.Based on the Landsat TM data, this paper makes the Automatic batch pretreatment by IDL. Then use the algorithm for fine registration of multi-band remote sensing images proposed in this paper to registrate TM data. After extracting NDVI index, combining with weather information, we analyze the vegetation change of four experiment area and its differences of city inside and outside. The concrete work is as follows:(1)Before Landsat TM officially using, pretreatment is necessary to make data convenient for further use. Based on IDL platform, we achieve the pretreatment including calibration, wave synthesis, and cloud detection. It can also be applied to other research which need pretreatment of TM.(2)Because of conditions difference, the same feature may not has the same position in images taken in different time. The fine registration becomes a problem must solved in long phase remote sensing application. Aiming at the problem, this paper proposes a method for automatic fine registration of multi-band remote sensing images. The method makes full use of original image information, and use common control points to pick out the reliable control points. The experiment showed that, the algorithm improve accuracy and suitable for multi-band remote sensing images batch processing.(3)Compared different kinds of vegetation index comprehensively, this paper choose NDVI、SAVI and EVI, which are closely related to the biomass, and use IDL to calculate vegetation index automatically based on vector scope, then export the result in specified format. To ensure the effectiveness of the meteorological data, we test the autocorrelation of data first by Durbin-Watson method. In result of principal component analysis and linear regression, the vegetation cover exists fluctuation, but in background of climate change, it still shows a tendency of a slow growth.(4)In the process of urbanization, city area and population expand quickly, industrial development makes the environment worse, which make climate, environment, soil and other vegetation factors different from suburb. To analyze difference and characteristics of urban and suburban vegetation, this paper study respectively of city and outside. The reulsts show that vegetation coverage outside is generally higher than the city, but city vegetation fluctuate stronger.
