Application Of Theil Index In Research On The Educational Equalization

The unbalanced distribution of resources is a problem that is widely regarded.The non equilibrium distribution is divided into two groups:the non equilibrium among the groups and the non equilibrium among the regions.Between groups of non equilibrium is research resources balance in different groups (such as urban and rural residents, education level high and fow level of Education Group); between regions (such as the disequilibrium of East, West, central, northeast) is the distribution of research resources in different regions.In general can be with distribution function of random variable of the non balanced distribution, and for non random variables, more the relative index and common indicators have Gini coefficient and the quantile function, the Atkinson index, Lorenz curve, generalized entropy index and Theil index. By cluster analysis, found that the regional distribution of education resources of non equilibrium and the level of economic development of the region distribution of non balance is not consistent.In addition, cluster analysis also shows the area inside the Theil index difference of the source.This study expands the scope and application of the Theil index, and using the combination of cluster analysis and Theil index made a try. Empirical results show that the method is practical and effective, and to reveal the Theil index in all the unbalanced distribution of social and economic fields have broad application space.
