Water conservation function on the southern slope of Qilian Mountain area is mainly distributed in northeast of Qinghai province, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Northwestern, located in the hinterland of the middle section of Qilian mountain, northeast of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, western edge of the loess plateau. The study area is the primeval forest area in Qinghai province and is of great ecological significance. The area is complex terrain and including tectonic geomorphology, landform Aeolian landform landforms, water and glaciers, glaciers are not only widely distributed large Canyon. From a geomorphological point of view, the study area is concluding Zhongshan, Kawadani, hills and low mountains in the basin and Alpine. The mountain area is wide and steep, a great influence on the climate of the region, the climate is continental. The study using 2001-2010 years 250 m space resolution of MODIS-NDVI data and meteorological data, using ArcGIS 10.1 software, using maximize synthesis method, annual vegetation index, correlation method, more items type return analysis method and anti-distance weight method, analyzing the 21 st century in the first a ten years of the Qilian Mountains South water conservation function district of vegetation covered spatio-temporal changes features, and discussing the vegetation index years of months between changes law, and vegetation index of years inter changes law, and Spatial distribution of vegetation cover, and the interannual variation of vegetation cover, and the interannual variation of vegetation coverage, interannual variation in temperature, precipitation interannual variation of the space, the spatial distribution of temperature, precipitation distributions, correlations between NDVI and annual mean temperature, vegetation index and correlation between annual precipitation. The water conservation function on the southern slope of Qilian mountain area have a regularity of the year of the Decade, On the June July August and September annually growth of vegetation in the study area during the best months, with vegetation growth status of July best. Responding to special geographical location and climatic conditions in the region, with the same of the short regional warm season and the cool long climate. Water conservation function on the southern slope of Qilian mountain area vegetation from South to North, decreases from East to West, this research consistent spatial distribution of temperature and precipitation in the region, the growth of vegetation in the study area affected by the combined effects of temperature and precipitation are two factors. Water conservation vegetation in General, on the southern slope of Qilian mountain in the growth stage, consistent with the overall changes in air temperature and precipitation for the period in 2001-2010.Vegetation growth changes with the addition of this period is closely related to precipitation and temperature, also associated with the State policies, particularly in 2000, implementation of the policy of returning farmland to forest and grass in Qinghai province, on restoration of vegetation cover in the region has played a very big role. Therefore, the relevant departments should attach great importance to measures to improve the protection of the environment and sustainable development of forests, grassland, arable land, and to contribute to the healthy development of ecological environment in the region.
