In the northeastern of Heilongjiang Province, the Sanjiang plain has an area of 10.881104 square kilometers, and after 60 years of development, it has become the major grain production bases in China. With the rapid development of social economy, the long-term excessive exploitation of groundwater, which caused the underground water level continued to decline, ground subsidence and other environmental problems in the region. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate and analyze groundwater exploitation and land subsidence phenomenon in the Sanjiang plain. Choosing the typical ground subsidence area and establishing the groundwater numerical model, this paper uses the numerical methods to predict the ground settlement in the area, and providing an effective scientific basis for the development and utilization of groundwater resources rationally in the Sanjiang Plain.Firstly, this paper through investigation and statistics method, carried out the groundwater exploitation condition and land subsidence phenomenon in the Sanjiang Plain groundwater administrative division, analyze the causes and the general rules of land subsidence in the Sanjiang Plain. Next, on the basis of survey data in the Sanjiang Plain, I selected a typical area of land subsidence, and the measured data of typical area for many years to fit the amount of groundwater exploitation, and got fit function. Through calculating, I obtained groundwater extraction by the next 20 years. This paper also uses a common international groundwater numerical simulation software MODFLOW to establish a typical numerical models of groundwater, making use of numerical methods for the next 1 year,10 years and 20 years after the amount of groundwater level changes due to the typical area and the exploitation of groundwater caused by land subsidence prediction. Meanwhile, it also studied the variation of groundwater level change and land subsidence. Finally, this paper puts forward the suggestions of the Sanjiang Plain water resource development and utilization, which is conducive to solve environmental problems such as water tables falling and land subsidence, which is conducive to the sustainable development of water resources in the Sanjiang Plain, which offers reference for the development and utilization of water resources in the Sanjiang Plain.
