The occurrence of natural disasters in our country is very frequently,and it’s also the main disaster which our human being must to be faced.In recent years,with the development of science technology,it can’t analyze and display the relative information accurately while we use the two-dimensional GIS to deal with the floods.With the require of digital river basin and the information of flood to be more comprehensive,all of us were more urgent hope to express the information from the three-dimensional space.Compared with the traditional two-dimensional,it can give us a more realistic three-dimensional, natural and intuitive experience.The Chakou watershed located in the loess plateau hilly-gully region,when the flood came,it always threaten the lives and property of the local villagers.The control of flood has been an important task of the local people,the simulation of floods can help the the ministry of flood control and disaster relief department to formulate corresponding solutions.In this paper,we use ArcGIS、Sketchup、3ds MAX software to simulate the changing process of the flood in Chakou watershed.then we use ArcEngine to Creating the model system.So that we can use ArcEngine to analyze the flood inundation on tracks through the model.The results in this article are as follows:First,we summarizes the basic theoretical and technology that about three-dimensional simulation in domestic and foreign research status.Then we compared the advantages and disadvantages of these various three-dimensional simulation method to determine the three-dimensional simulation method,so that we can study this area.Secondly,based on the ArcGIS9.3,3ds MAX,Sketchup software,the DEM data,texture data, and local field measurement data and so on,we simulate the three-dimensional and the flood in the area.we use the landform,surface features and flood in Chakou to simulate.Then mapping and rendering the built structure and flood,in order to achieve a three-dimensional simulation of the flood.Finally,we import the built three-dimensional and the flood into ArcEngine that we can see it.
