Due to the particular geographical environment and intensified the human activitiesin recent years, the delta evolution is speeding up, especially the land in the coastline. The evolution of riverway and coastline have profound effects on the development ofthe Delta and the landscape pattern of land use. The Modern Yellow River Delta is thelast not fully developed delta in china, and constitutes its importance in wetlandresearch in the world. Analyzing the evolution history of the riverway and coastline,we can predict the evolution trends in the future. At the same time, combining thelandscape pattern of land use data, we can analyze the effects of its evolutions on thelandscape pattern of land use. Thus, promote the understanding of the situation and therational utilization of resources in the delta, and have important significance for makingthe protection measures of the river estuary and the sustainable development of the delta.According to the Landsat TM images, respectively using normalized differencewater index method and a combination methods of object-oriented classification andvisual interpretation, the riverway and the coastline and the land use landscape patterndistribution were extracted. Discuss the influences of the riverway and coastline on theland use landscape pattern evolution in the Modern Yellow River Delta. The main studycontent and fruit is listed as follows:(1)The Yellow River riverway evolution basically follows the "deposition-extension-elevation-swing-diversion" laws. From1934to1953, its riverway was in the naturalevolution of the state, and due to the impact of the artificial intervention, the riverwaybecame single and stable after1953. From1934to2014, the coastline length and landarea have showed increasing trends, and they were doubled the original.(2) From1985to2014, great changes have occurred in the land use landscape. Thearea of cultivated land, construction land and waters land increased, while the area ofwoodland, unused land and grassland decreased. From landscape type level, irrigated land, Reservoirs and ponds, aquaculture and salt pans and shallow beach appears thedevelopment trend of agglomeration; dry land, rural residential land, urban land, miningland, forest land, and grass land more show the development trend of fragmentation. From the landscape level, the number of landscape patches has been increasing, so, onthe whole, showing a fragile development trend, and different kinds of landscape typesshowing a balanced distribution trend. The landscape pattern change of land use ismainly due to the comprehensive effects of natural processes and human activities.(3) The impact of river on landscape pattern of land use mainly shows: the landscapepattern of land use symmetrically distributed on the both sides of the current and oldriverway with the order of the land use: the irrigated land (dry land)-urban land(grassland, irrigated land, dry land, rural residential land)-aquaculture and salt pans(saline-alkali land, grassland)-sea land. The impact of the coastline on landscape patternof land use is the layout of the land use circular distributed with the sea land-shallowbeach–beach-aquaculture and salt pans-grassland-dry land-irrigated-urban land-rural residential land, changed in turn from the outside to the inside.
