With the progress of science and technology, new problems of lightning protection appear constantly. Because of the great loss of lightning disaster, lightning disasters become more and more eye-catching. Lightning electromagnetic pulse (LEMP) is one of the main causes behind the scenes. LEMP hazard has characteristics of wide scope, large range of space and severe losses. It involves almost all industries especially field close related to high technology. LEMP may cause serious economic loss, loss of public service damage or even casualties.When lightning occurs, transient electromagnetic field is induced around the tunnel. Electromagnetic induction and electromagnetic radiation effect are produced in a certain range of space. They are able to be coupled with local electronic components or induce overvoltage and overcurrent in the line. In addition, information transmission will be disturbed, other equipment connected to the line will also be damaged. If the structures are subjected to direct lightning strike, transient current through the lightning protection system can produce strong transient electromagnetic field in the surrounding, which is able to do harm to electrical and electronics equipment inside and outside. Due to LEMP pervasive and bad tolerance of electrical&electronics equipment system to LEMP, a lightning strike may often cause massive damage to equipment. So, lightning electromagnetic environment assessment of the space inside architectural structures where there is equipment and electromagnetic compatibility design of electrical&electronic components have been important research subjects in current lightning protection areas.For the research of electromagnetic characteristics and its influencing factors when metal frame suffers from lightning, engineering calculation and analysis in view of actual architectural structures, this paper puts forward using calculation software CDEGS to deal with lightning electromagnetic transient problems after feasibility validation. It can mostly solve problems(complicated calculation, time-consuming and not able to set up engineering model according to actual architectural structures) of existing theory research method. This may not only be beneficial to further study of the topic "lightning electromagnetic environment indoors", but also make it possible that the assessment of lightning electromagnetic environment in electric power sector, meteorological department, etc, will be of business, which has a certain value of research and application.
