Water hazards in coal mine is a major problem plagued the water-rich coal mine. Itis an important issue of coalfield hydrogeological studies that finding out water yieldproperty of aquifers、hydraulic connection of aquifers and water conductivity ofconstruct within this area in the earlier stage of the hydrogeological investigation.Transient electromagnetic method has many advantages, such as low cost, highefficiency, low resistance sensitive and small volume effect. It is widely used in the fieldof hydrology and engineering survey in recent years.Traditional hydrogeological survey work which mainly used a combination ofdrilling and pumping tests has high cost and long construction period. The article isbased on hydrological survey of the second mine of Mindong. The use of TEM in thehydro-geological exploration guides drilling layout. Combined with a pumping test, wedetect before and after the pumping respectively, and then, we process the data withtime-lapse inversion in order to get the hydraulic connection between the aquifer. In theprocess of aquifer water content analysis, the detection data is dealed with gap attributeanalysis. Finally, comparing the TEM result with the pumping test result, the aquifer’smeasurement scope and water content can be easily shown. The analysis result has shown that: firstly, the application of TEM is such a goodmethod to guide the borehole layout; secondly, time-lapse inversion of the detectingdata, to a certain extent, shows the hydraulic connection of groundwater; thirdly, comprehensive comparison and using the results of the geophysical prospecting andpumping test, more problems such as the scope, the aquifer strength and the hydraulicconnection of the aquifer can be illustrated intuitively and accurately, and it canprovides a good technical support for the next step in the coal mines.
