Scale effect of landscape pattern refers to the change in the pattern of theexperimental area of vegetation, water body, bare land and other landscape compositionchanges with scale arising. Identify the characteristics of the landscape scaleand thus canbe more accurate grasp of landscape pattern.For the purpose of understanding therelationshipbirds perched and distribution with the scalecloser, all of us research birdhabitat landscape pattern. It is of great importance to studythe scale effect of landscapepattern of China’s forest-steppe ecotonebecause of it’sspecial geographical location andunique ecological characteristics. Current research about the effect of the scale of thelandscape pattern in the area,especialin characteristic scale of the study has not beenreported.In the article we studied systematically scale effect of birds habitat on theSoutheastrn Edge of the Inner Mongolia Plateautodetermine the characteristic scale of thelandscapeby using the TM remote sensing image, through the classification polymerization,the landscape index method and wavelet analysis, the ecological statistical methods.andalso dolandscape pattern analysis under the characteristic scale of the status.Meanwhilewe investigated into the distribution of bird communities in the study area applyingtransect method and SPSS, and statisticsed the number and variety of the birds accordingto the scale. Finally we compare the distribution of the bird community and landscapepattern.Result:Using the landscape index method combined with wavelet analysis of variance todetermine the characteristic scale of the landscape. Landscape characteristics scale of thestudy area is15km.The determination of landscape index by small scale and largescale,and then concluded that two groups of characteristic scalerespectively, finally findtheexact characteristic dimensions under the result of the wavelet analysis.In the characteristic scale of the status of landscape pattern analysis.Calculating thelandscape index in the FRAGSTATS.On the class level,broad-leaf forest area accounts for77.42%of the total area of vegetation. Patch Shape is irregularity of Coniferous forest,broad-leaf forest,Grassland and bare land. Broad-leaf forest’s LSI is the largest. The4types plaques MPFD value is low and has low space complexity. Each type of patches aggregation degree is high, especially broad-leaved and bare land AI value reached morethan80. On the landscape level, the complexity of the shape of the landscape is not high.AWMIS is1.3218. SHDI is1.0033. Landscape spatial complexity is very low of theresearch area. Stability of landscape spatial information, the high degree of aggregation,but the advantage plaques is not obvious.Best observation scale of bird community should be located in all parameter valuereaches steady or increased slightly at scale.These values are used to describe the level ofbird communities of the parameters can be able to reflect the essential characteristics ofbird communities.Only based on the characteristic scale of the landscape in order to more accuratelygrasp the landscape patterns and processes。Proper understanding of landscape pattern onbird habitat in order to protection and utilization of birds.
