Deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA), an important carrier of the genetic information stored in living organisms, plays an important role in the metabolism of organism genetic. The unique molecular structure and molecular recognition mechanism of DNA molecules determine their outstanding information storage and information processing ability. In the field of information security, DNA cryptography research has developed rapidly with the special DNA molecular configuration and the distinct molecular recognition mechanism. The DNA molecules have great developmental potential in information encryption, hiding and certification, and other areas of the information security, which provides a new way for the development of modern cryptography. For that reason, this paper carried out the research on information security issues by applying the DNA molecule. An algorithm was proposed with regard to the DNA molecule encryption and hiding model studied in this paper. The novel model demonstrates the successful implementation of the information encryption and hiding. The research comes into three sections as follows.First, the DNA sequence based information hiding algorithm was designed. Started with large amounts of DNA sequences in DNA sequence database, information hiding algorithm and information extraction algorithm were designed so as to achieve the information hiding and extraction. DNA sequences stored in DNA sequence database were well exploited in the solution, which would be an approach of mining and utilizing DNA sequence database.Second, the information hiding algorithm based on DNA chip technology was modeled. With the micro processing technology, a large number of target DNA fragments can be fixed on silicon or glass supported substrate, constituting a DNA chip with specific two-dimensional DNA probe array. The encrypting and decrypting the DNA probes were designed in the algorithm due to characteristics of DNA chip. DNA chips that carry QR code information can hide and transfer information.Finally, encryption algorithm with utilization of DNA nanotechnology was modeled. An information hiding and transferring algorithm for nano-scale molecular biotechnology was proposed in combination with DNA digital coding rules and supplementary rules by using technologies of DNA synthesis, PCR amplification, cloning sequencing. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show strong feasibility and safety of this information encrypting algorithm, which reveals the great potential of DNA molecules for application in the field of information security.
