The rock structure in granite distribution area of Guangxi is loose and its weathered clinosol and residual soils which have larger thickness are widely distributed. The soils have suffered strong corrosion, erosion, cutting action and serious soil erosion, coupled with abundant rainfall, making frequent landslides disasters. This paper is supported by the tender in 2014 "warning system’s development and application of landslide hazard in Guangxi granite residual soil area" which is presided by the Land Resources Department of Guangxi Assessment of the risk of landslide in Guangxi granite distribution is researched. The risk assessment can provide the basis for the landslide’s forecasting and early warning.This paper is based on Guangxi disaster survey data in 2005-2013, selecting hazard assessment model and using ArcGIS software to go on the assessment of the danger, vulnerability and risk of Guangxi granite distribution area. The main study of this paper is below:(1)The development characteristics and spatial, temporal distribution of landslide disasters in Guangxi granite distribution were analyzed. The results show that landslides of granite distribution area in Guangxi are primarily distributed in the Yulin, Guilin, Wuzhou and the landslides occurs frequently in June-August.(2)The formation conditions and influencing factors of Landslides in Guangxi granite distribution are analyzed. The relationships between the landslides and lithology, elevation, slope, geological structure, vegetation, rainfall, human engineering activities are reached.(3) The slope, elevation, geological structure, vegetation, rainfall, human engineering activities are selected as hazard evaluation. Using information model based on ArcGIS software to complete the hazard assessment of landslide in granite area of Guangxi. Selecting the population density of the county’s as population index, GDP of all countries and the sum of the value of the county road at all levels as property index. The vulnerability assessment of landslide disasters in the granite area of Guangxi is completed using the mathematical models of vulnerability assessment which puts forward by Liu Xilin and ArcGIS software. At last, this paper uses ArcGIS software to have finished the risk assessment of landslide disasters in the granite area of Guangxi combined with the existing hazard and vulnerability assessment results. The results show that the high risk areas of landslides in granite distribution area of Guangxi are primarily distributed in the Yulin, Wuzhou and Qin zhou.
