Cable is an important part of the grid, in order to meet the growing demand for electricity and the island’s wind energy deliveries, construction of Pingtan County, Fujian Electric Power Company and the mainland of the second grid interconnection lines, submarine cables for the first time the domestic photovoltaic 110KV composite submarine cable, which is the first time the State grid Corporation of photoelectric composite technology products in the 110KV voltage class submarine in order to meet the energy and power grid while conveying information needs.The special circumstances of the submarine cable which is difficult to use traditional domestic point of temperature and strain measurement method to monitor their online. Pingtan 110KV composite submarine optical communication network across the sea more than the actual use of the core (currently only 4-6 cores), a large number of spare cores can utilization as a variety of information to monitor the submarine cable sensing components, without laying new sensing circuit, providing a rare natural sensing element and an information carrier for the submarine cable projects of scientific research and on-line monitoring system, saving the cost of investment.Fiber is a set of communication with the sensor in a special material. Based BOTDR use of temperature and strain measurement system, both from a theoretical and experimental study of undersea cables and fiber optic temperature and strain Brillouin scattering intensity and the frequency shift of the law, access to submarine cable temperature normal operation and fault state and strain data, studies the relationship between the law of temperature and strain data and fiber submarine cable operation, providing theoretical and experimental basis for high-precision real-time monitoring of temperature submarine cables and force the situation.Based on the results and the actual situation of theoretical and experimental research, build undersea cable temperature and strain measurement subsystem, real-time measurement of temperature and strain along the fiber. Design monitoring system software, communications storage, playback and query capabilities and operating data with the host computer background, submarine power cable operation to achieve real-time monitoring.The project uses BOTDR technology enables distributed temperature and strain measurements of submarine cables for stereo operation status monitoring and fault point location, and combined with AIS technology enables complex optical submarine cable along the line measurement of temperature and strain distribution in a timely manner discover hidden faults, fault point location and confirm maritime accident warning and the vessels. System of high accuracy, accurate positioning, real-time reflection of submarine cables running to reduce the probability of failure, shortening the fault repair time, for the safe and stable operation of undersea cables and fiber optic cable has a very important significance. Numerous islands of Fujian Province, submarine cables of different voltage levels are widely distributed, and the National Grid for monitoring Fujian province other submarine cables have a good reference after the successful development of the project.
