Research of spectrum is the foundation of ocean color application. It plays an important role in the algorithm developing and theory researching. A preliminary study of water spectrum is carried out in this thesis through a forward model based on Monte Carlo method and the validity of this model is verified. The model is applied to Yellow Sea and East China Sea and the research on the effects of three main elements of water on spectrum, lay the foundation for later research of water spectrum.A Monte Carlo model based on the radiative transfer principle is established in this thesis, aiming to simulate and study all kinds of water spectrum characteristics and the distribution of the light field. This thesis transfers the photons physical processes into a series of random events by Monte Carlo method, and simulates a large number of photons to get the apparent optical properties of water. The main content of this thesis is to realize the physical processes of photons and apply this model in water optical properties study.By the model established in this thesis, we obtain the apparent optical properties of water through the inherent optical properties or the concentration of main component in water, such as remote sensing reflectance and upward/downward irradiance/radiance. This is helpful to study the relationship between spectrum characteristics and optical properties of water.Applying this model in the coastal water in Yellow Sea and East China Sea, we find that there is a good consistency in remote sensing reflectance and profile of downward irradiance between the simulation results and the measured data. It shows that this model is applicable in this area. The model is used to study the influence on water spectrum by concentration change in different occasions. The results shows that the sensitivity of the three main components is different in each band.
