To understand the species diversity and community structure of rotifers in Tibet andYunnan-Guizhou Plateau, we took samples from42lakes and38temporary water in Tibet fromJune to August in2012and2013and21lakes in In Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in the summer of2012, we identified species and analyszed rotifer community. The results and conclusion aresummarized as follows:1. There were74rotifer species identified in Tibetan Plateau, Hexarthra polyodonta,Keratella quadrata f.pyriformis and Euchlanis oropha are new to china, and four newspecies, Lecane tibet, Keratella tibet, Trichocerca tibet and Cephalodella tibet. Therotifer diversity is lower than in other regions in china, the salinity is the main factorexplaning the spatial pattern. There were42species of rotifer identified inYunnan-Guizhou Plateau lakes.2. The species composition of rotifer is difference among sampled lakes in Tibetan Plateau.The rotifer is mainly composed of Keratella, Hexarthra and Brachionus in thepermanent lakes, and Lecane, Euchlanus, Cephelodella in temporary water. Brachionusand Trichocerca are the dominant species in the low altitude lakes in Yunnan-GuizhouPlateau. In the high altitude lakes rotifer species is so different among lakes, but thespecies is mainly composed of cosmopolitan species and cold-water adapting species.3. The abundance of rotifers in the Tibetan Plateau lakes is relatively low, the food its mainlimiting factor. Keratella, Hexarthra and Brachionus dominated in abundance. The mostlakes in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau are eutrophic with high rotifer abundance. Thespecies in Brachionus, Trichocerca, Keratella and Polyarthra are dominant.
