Quantitative prediction of geological faults has been a difficult job in geologicalwork. Faults affecting the safe production and efficiency of coal mine. Based on theprevious studies predicting coal faults on the basis of information, collected the dataof Beiyangzhuang coal mine. Research on the structural features of related area andfaults structure of Beiyangzhuang coal mine, statistics and clear up the fracturestructural feature has been revealed and other information, and analysis the structurecharacteristics of the fracture.Using fractal theory on network coverage method to calculate the fractaldimension of each partition, found the fracture distribution in the scale used with goodstatistical self-similarity, show that each partition fracture structure has thecharacteristics of fractal distribution. Different fractal dimension reflects thecomplexity of the different size of the fault. The eara where the fracture strength isbigger, more small faults and branch faults, the fractal dimension is bigger. The earawhere the fault sparse, small faults and fault branches relatively small, the fractaldimension is smaller.Using fractal theory studys on5seam faults fractal characteristics. Found thatthe faults with good statistical distribution of self-similarity, using fault structureshown by the basic characteristics and relationships, combined with fractal geometrytheory in the field of applied geology, maked the fault throw and frequency scatterplot and using similar dimensions to calculate the fractal dimension value of faultthrow. Through the research on has mining area fracture fractal characteristics ofquantitative, to predict the structure of the undeveloped areas, and achieved goodresults.
