From the generalized spatial cognitive sense, all maps can be considered as spatialcognitive expression results. Map graphics quality determines whether people can obtainreliable information from the map, the map making is not only the collocation of color,symbol design, scale setting these traditional graphics content, more emphasis on theexpression of map data, the reader more hope can see their most needed information from thethe map at first glance.With the rapid development of database technology and GIS, people tend to computer fordata understanding as a first step in understanding the world, ignore the important role ofcognitive thinking system to solve the practical problems. The traditional drawing systemproduct the conventional map may or may not be able to fully express the core information,sometimes even results mislead, readers can not find the needed space and attributeinformation to stick out a mile,.Based on summarizing theory of spatial cognition and spatial cognitive mode, points outthat the form of spatial cognition can be divided into three kinds: perception, cognition andthe symbolic space. And this three kinds of forms and spatial cognition are also three gradualcognitive process, from the understanding of perceived cognitive analysis to the symbolicexpression, is a kind of bottom-up analysis expression. Based on this, think of mind map issuitable for spatial cognitive outcome expression map form, Cartogram is suitable for themental map visualization of expression form.Study on based-on diffusion method Cartogram, introduces the principle and generatingmethod in detail, and illustrates the application of value expression to election results in theregular map error by an example ofAmerica presidential election. According to thecharacteristics of spatial cognition "heavy topological relation, light vector shape", uses Java land GeoTools to simplify and improve the shapefile, the number of Swiss cantons populationused for distribution map attribute data generating density of population, the algorithmperformance analysis found that, the simplified and improved shapefile to generate Cartogramhas an greatly efficiency, and can solve complex vector data because of the large amount ofdata can not to be completely iterative generate high quality Cartogram defects.Finally,the radio and television industry of our country income distribution analysis andindustrial spatial structure of spatial cognition analysis as an example.Propsed limitations ofconventional maps expression that is not unified, the difference of the unknown and thestandard measure of misleading. On the administrative map of China were simplified, usingdiffusion Cartogram algorithm to express the spatial cognition based on the results of theanalysis, the generated Cartogram map is not only to interpret the images are clearly understand the distribution pattern of income space, is also very good performance of theconventional map does not show "deep processing" attribute data information.
