Study On Breeding Biology Of Brown Shrike(Lanius Cristatus) In Heilongjiang Maoershan Mountain Of Northeast China

From May to July2013, the brown shrike in maoershan of heilongjiang province was our researched object, and studied on breeding biology. The data acquired by infrared cameras, the breeding behaviors recorded by instantaneous and scanned sampling method. We process and analysis the data of different stages in breeding season.We found17nests of brown shrike in Maoershan,14nests began the spawning period,12nests completed clutch size,6nests hatching succeed,5nests successfully fledged chicks. The study found that brown shrike nesting in farmland edge, the road edge, rail road edge and forest edge. Clutch size number is4-7eggs, the average clutch size number is5.58±0.86(x±S.D.,n=12). The shape of egg is oval, the color is pale and light pink.The early stage of the incubation parent birds sitting in nest accumulated10.28h (observing14h). The mid stage of the incubation parent birds sitting in nest accumulated10.98h. The later stage of the incubation parent birds sitting in nest accumulated11.68h. The early stage of the incubation parent birds’feeding peak at12:00-13:00feed4times; The mid stage of the incubation parent birds’feeding peak at10:00-11:00feed19times; The later stage of the incubation parent birds’feeding peak at11:00-12:00feed6times, parent birds feed chicks peak at10:00-11:00,feed19times.The early stage of the brood parent birds sitting in nest accumulated10.08h(observing14h),The mid stage of the brood parent birds sitting in nest accumulated1.68h,The early stage of the brood parent birds sitting in nest accumulated0.12h.There are3brood ways, and the majority way is the male feeding the female, then the female feed chicks. The early stage of the brood feed chicks peak at18:00-19:00and feed16times. The mid stage of the brood feed chicks peak at12:00-13:00and feed21times. The later stage of the brood feed chicks peak at12:00-13:00and feed30times.There are72eggs of14nests,33eggs are hatched successfully, the hatchability is45.8%, hatching26chicks and flying successfully, the flying rate is36.1%.14nests enter the spawning period,12nests complete clutch size,accounting for85.7%,7nests success enter the incubation period and hatch chicks, nest hatching successful rate is50%. There are5nests’chicks flying successfully, nest flying successful rate is35.7%.
