Vegetation is one of the most sensitive and important environmental factors to characterize ecological environment, community economy, human life, because not only vegetation can affect the changes of the other environment factors, but also it is an indicator of surrounding soil, air, local small environment, etc. More importantly, a reasonable and correct configuration of vegetation has a huge impact on sustainable development of resource, rapid progress of economy and high level of human life. Combined with the actual situation in China, like complicated terrain, large difference in vertical height, and little work on spatial pattern of vertical distribution, so getting the information of vegetation cover and elevation and revealing the vertical distribution law of vegetation are meaningful for analyzing and estimating the regional land use planning, human activities, environment quality, and enriching the theoretical system of vertical distribution as well. Meanwhile, in the background of rapid development in "3S" technologies (RS, GIS, GPS), they provide data support to master the authoritative, objective and accurate information on vegetation cover, make it highly possible and feasible that construct an index system on vertical distribution of vegetation and do some research on dynamic model of vegetation cover from a vertical distribution perspective. In this paper, I took advantage of the vegetation cover data which was obtained from geographical conditions monitoring, and combined with some theories and methods (e.g. classical statistics, spatial analysis, landscape spatial pattern, etc.) to analyze and study on the relationship between vegetation cover and elevation zones. Then I stood at4points-spatial distribution of vegetation cover, human disturbance, diversity of vegetation cover and dominance of vegetation cover-to illustrate and analyze the vertical distribution pattern of vegetation cover in detail. Based on this, I modeled a spatial model,"a dynamic model for vertical distribution pattern of vegetation cover", to simulate the spatial rules of vegetation distribution in the vertical direction. The results of this paper could provide a theoretical reference for the project of Chinese geographical conditions monitoring, give some help for planning the vegetation resource reasonably, and give some suggestion for sustainable development of nature, society, economy to some extent.
