Research On The Growth Pattern Of New Functional Zones In Central Cities

The stable growth of economy, the continuous optimization of structure and the elevation of urbanization quality, are the main goals of regional economic development, however, the basic powers to realize these goals are the industrial development and the technological advance. This article attempts to launch from the discussion of the industrial agglomeration's rule, analyzes the agglomeration of essential factors which followed the industrial agglomeration and the spatial evolution rule within this process, then elaborate the key role of urban new functional zones in promoting technological innovation and spatial structure aspects.⑴In the fundamental research part, the paper reorganizes the representative research achievements from the spatial structure and the spatial clusters perspectives, argues that the existing research results about agglomeration mainly focus on the manufacturing industry, lacks exhaustive research about the new agglomeration such as the science and education district and the business district.⑵In the mechanical research part, the discussion begins at the agglomeration of enterprises in space, analyzes the evolution process of urban new functional zones emphatically which starts from the"growth nucleus"to the"growth belt"then to the new functional zones, and makes thorough research specially on the self- enhancement mechanism and dynamic balance mechanism of the new functional zones.⑶In the growth pattern research part, the paper argues that the industrial district is the engine of the regional economic growth, and analyzes the urban new functional zones from the science and education district, the business district and the leisure industry district angles, draws the conclusion that the formation of new function district cannot generate without the essential enterprises, universities, scientific research institutions or organizations of consultation generally, they are the growth factors of urban new functional zones.⑷In the case analysis part, the paper collects the most recent data about the urban new functional zones of Qingdao City, computes its relative superiority using location quotient and growth index and makes the growth effect appraisal, arguing that the development of new functional zones in Qingdao City has optimized the urban interior spatial structure, consummated the urban functions, promoted the coordination between urban economy and the urban spatial structure.⑸Before conclusive discussion, the paper summarizes this article's research, and proposed the question which further research need to develop.
