The Comparing On R&D Investment Between Japan And Korea's Home Appliance Manufacturing Companies In China And The Benefit From Their Experience

The internationalization of economy and technology not only make the producing and capital of multinational corporations cross the boundary, but also make the R&D activities scatter into the whole world. R&D globalization has become the new develop tendency in MNCs. The research on this problem focuses on three aspects, the drivers of R&D internationalization, the choices of overseas R&D locations and organization forms. The home appliance manufacturing companies both in Japan and Korea have strong competition in the world, and both have had R&D activities in varying degrees in China. This paper gives a compare of the companies on above three aspects between the two countries, and also give some significance proposals for R&D internationalization of Chinese household appliances enterprises.The drivers of R&D globalization affect the choices of MNCs'R&D location and organization forms. For Japan and Korea's household electric appliance companies, the drivers of R&D in China are not all the same. Both of them want to acquire Chinese market share and use of branches as bases for production. The differences are that the former takes its R&D institutions as the transit station, but the latter pays attention to the acquisition of R&D resources. The different drivers lead to various choices of location and forms in China.China as a nation with emergent household electric appliance industry, depends on the importing technology to develop this industry likes the Japan and Korea. Now the overseas R&D of Chinese household appliances enterprises need to references from Japan and Korea. The major aim of R&D internationalization of Chinese home appliance manufacturing companies is to get the advanced technologies, so the overseas R&D institutions locate in the countries and areas which master these technologies, and the R&D organization forms adapt independent ones.
