The Chinese air transportation develops very fast these years along with the sustained growth of Chinese economy. At the end of 2005, China has taken the second position considering the total volume of Chinese air transportation, just behind of America. The total number of passengers transportation has broken through 100 million passengers in 2005.Although China can be considered as the huge country based on this total volume of transportation, Chinese air transportation is still far beyond of mightiness. Monopolization of national airlines constrains the efficiency of air transportation market and also makes them fail to build the mature and adaptable air transportation network of their own up to now. Most of consumers can't enjoy the benefit of air transportation today. One of the issue concerning the unbalance of air transportation development is that the scale of regional aircrafts in airlines' total fleet is low and still has the trend to decline now, which causes the regional aviation market under developed, even stop to develop. Currently, 20 airports bear the 80% transportation of passengers each year. Most of rest airports have to face the situation of shortage of passengers, which makes the operation of them harder and harder. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the huge potential in Chinese regional aviation market by analyzing and comparing the current status of foreign and civil regional aviation market. At the same time ,try to analyze the special character of developing Chinese regional transportation market, introduce some successful experiences of some airlines and give some suggestions to the airlines on designing the strategy to develop this market.
