Ecological security research is a frontier field of sustainable development of 1 and resources at present .Ecological security theory of land use and evaluation stu dies has been folded, however, the research on land ecological security is at the f irst stage yield . the notion ,content and object of ecological security must be de velop . Based on the same research of ecological security ,this article demonstrat es the varity theory of ecological security and methods of research to forth .It is constent of evaluation methods of land ecological security,the health of ecosystem, the service of ecosystem and the ecological footprints. In the case of xianning ci ty ,this article researches the ecological security of land use ,the health of ecosyst em ,the service of ecosystem and the ecological footprints in this region .In this paper, the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP ) method is applied to determine th e weighting coeff- icients of the indexes in the evaluation system of regional ecol ogical security. Then from three aspects such as nature , economy , society , insp ecting through completeness and the scientificity for evaluation index , altogether 20 indices of variable layer , compose and construct an index system of ecologic al security evaluation of land resources fit to provincial characteristics. Then it ha s a comprehensive evaluation in this City on land ecological security of land reso urces in 2000. the result shows that the security is still in the safe state of "Differ from comparatively " .This article assessments the health of forest ecosystem in xianning city with three index such as NPP, organization and rejection ,In the process, the results s hows that the mountains and hills in the southern of xianning occupate the highes t health index ,the platues and hills in nouthern are the lowest health index regio n. The nature forest has a higher index with 95.30,in conversary ,the artifical fore st has a lower index with 32.0.Based on the characteristics of eco-environment in xianningcity, according to diffe rences of the forest types , climate and soil in the region, combined with the advance of new research, this article explores the theory and methods for the valuation of the veg etations ecosystem services, establishes the data basis of forest ecosystem, GIS and forest vegetation ecoaccount. By determining vegetation pr-oductions and eco-adjusted mas s, taking advantage of the theory and methods on ecology-economics, the articlestudies t he value of the forest vegetation ecosystem services. The results show that: (1) t-he tota lvalue of Ecological Services from the Forest Ecosystems in the xianning is 76.55x10 8 yuana-1;(2) the value of vegetation's soil and fertilization conservation is 55214.791x 104 yuana-1;(3) the value of vegetation water conservation is 24826.59* 104yuana-1;(4) the value of fixing CO2 and releasing O2 is 269833.16* 104yuan-a-l and 26872 2.14*106yuana-l respectively;The rate of contribution to subtropica-1 broad-leaf-m ixed is the highest, accounting for 75.4% of the total value. The second is subtropic al evergreen broadleaved forest , a-ccounting for 6.29% of the total value. Based on the researches for ecological system principal and land use ecological security, EFAA(Ecological Footprint Analysis Approaches an importan-t means that this arti cle can make use of measuring ecological security by integrating them, and then i t has a good fore ground application for measuring ecological security. The form ation of EF are applicated to in th-is article . After a brief review of the ecolog ical footprint concept and calculation method, the ecological f-ootprint of xianning city for 2000 is calculated and analyzed. The result indicates that: (1) the ecolog ical footprint demand of xianning city is 0.5298 hm2/cap,while the ecological foot print supply is only 0.424 hm2/cap , the ecological deficit is 0.105hhm2/cap;(2) 1 arger portion of the footprint demand and deficit result from the consumption of f ishing ground, fossil energy land, crop land and pastur. However, there is a mode st surpluses of forest occurred in xianning city,which showing that the ecological footprint of the present region in terms of human activities has already exceeded the benchmark of system eco logical carrying capacity, the st ructure and funct io ns of regional eco-economic system must be adjusted. Further more, the percapia ecological deficit reveals that the relationship between man and land is more inten se. Base on the study of ecological security from the varity of theory and method s in xianning city ,this article reseach the aim of reconstruction of ecosystem for land use and sustainable development in xianning city. In order to establish an ec o logical reconstruction model by effective techniques and to build a regional ecological security pattern by means of strategic positions,this research offers some effe cti-ve approaches and moldes of ecological landscape to agriculture and land use for sustainable development.
