| Land suitability evaluation is one of the major content of land resource research in last 20 years, which can offer scientific reliable foundation for the analysis of the present condition, the planning of the land use and effective, reasonable land resource development and use. The paper mainly included three parts: theory base, case study, conclusions. At the beginning, it introduced the development of research on land resource in the nation and abroad, and the meaning of doing it, talked about the theories, objects, tasks and technical foundations. Then elaborated the content, principle and theories of land resource suitability evaluation. The concept, development and function of GIS has been introduced briefly and the necessity of land resource suitability evaluation by GIS have been analysesed. The GIS software MapGis has been introduced.Taking LiXian(Hunan province) as the study area, based on the theory of land suitability development ,first, the article established the evaluation index system and evaluation criterion according to the principle of selecting the evaluated factors. Secondly, the weight of each factor has been calculated by the measure of Analytic Hierarchy Process. Then, supporting by GIS, the article completed the evaluation and analysis by making use of land materials and database. At last the article give some suggestions on how to use the land correctly.Taking GIS as technical foundation and using its ability of space analysis and data processing can save the manpower and material resources, accelerate the work plan, increase the achievement precision;GIS can conserve all original data as well as the intermediate and end achievement that makes it convenient to revise and renew the achievement. |
