Recently the shopping mall is blooming in large-sized and middle-sized cities in China, which is a new state of retail trading after retail trading of the chain-store and supermarket. It brings not only new opportunities to China's retail trading, but also great challenges upon the existing retail trading . Therefore, it is significant to make a study on current situation and impacts of the shopping mall. The paper, through a description of the concepts of the retailing business and the shopping mall, the history of the shopping mall, as well as the development of domestic and international shopping malls, analyzes the necessity of the emerging and the development of the shopping mall. Then this paper takes Wuhan Zhongshang Shopping mall(it is called Wuhan Shopping mall in this paper) as an example, and introduces it's the present situation, existent problem, and analyzes the influences on the city and it's future development direction etc. First this paper analyzes the investment the necessity and possibility of Wuhan shopping mall, from a theories of history, geography, environment, economic policy environment, humanities environment, company etc. Second this paper summarizes the state principle of managements and the problem through its preparation and operation. Third this paper analyzes the great impacts and challenges upon the city, include the business circles, the business situation, realty, setup of the city. Lastly the paper takes Wuhan shopping mall as an example to analyze to existence space and the key factor to exist, possible existent risk and the future development direction of shopping mall. Finally, this paper gives some useful suggestions to its investor and operator with the summarization to the development and the development direction of shopping mall in China.
