Developing in China for over 20years, the Japanese trading companies have adjusted their business strategies for several times. However, the research and study of the development and the business strategies of the Japanese trading company (sougou shousha) is very limited presently. The main goal of this paper is just to try to do some research in this field. At this aim, this paper tries to illustrate the process of the development of the Japanese trading companies in China and the influence of their adjustments of the business strategies under the new conditions of the world and the Chinese economy.The statement in this paper can be generally classified into five chapters. First chapter provides us with the concept of the Japanese trading company and introduces the origin and their significance in their separate groups. Then, the author illustrates the Japanese trading company' s Four Major Functions of their business strategy, which are: Information function, Trading function, Association & go-between function and Financing & banking function. These four functions insure the Japanese trading companies of their overwhelming status in the Japanese economy. Second chapter states the phases of the Japanese trading company' s development in China and their significance. Third chapter firstly explaines the backgrounds of the adjustments of Japanese trading company' s business strategies namingthat these are caused by the transformation of Japanese economy and the increasing appeal of the Chinese economy to the world. Then this chaptei elaborates the adjustments in details in several aspects: buildirg up and expanding their logistics-related business, entering the retail market, investing managements, establishing shousha-core value chain etc. in order to focus more and pursue high capital efficiency. Upon the analysis of this above condition, in the fourth chapte ?, this paper puts forward the influence of the Japanese trading compan'' s adjustments of their business strategies by supplying the advanced logistic and management experience, fetching other oversea investnent, leading Chinese native companies to develop abroad and also wiat the Chinese government, the industry structure, the national companies are expected to do to welcome this challenge. The last chapter presents the basic research conclusion, the problem of the paper and forward research.
