A Strategic Research Of Tibet Urbanization Process Driven By The Tourist Industry

As a western province in China, Tibet has special ecological environment and geographical condition. How to make it more modern in the tides of West Development and urbanization, and then take one suit Tibet development path which can accommodate to the special reality in Tibet are the focus of Tibet development and also my focus of attention in this paper .So I started from the special reality in Tibet, according to the principle of sustainable development and my research results investigated actually, tried to get a theoretical possibility between tourism and urbanization in Tibet.In this paper, we selected Niangre village in Lhasa as the investigate target. That's only because tourist industry has brought the tremendous influence to the life of the people in the whole village. It has typical research meaning to the study of the road of tourism urbanization.The paper is divided into three major parts. Firstly, I carried on brief evaluation and analysis on the theory overview studied to the Tibet urbanization, pointed out the shortcoming and what I should replenish. Secondly, I proceed from angle of tourist industry, analyzed the possibility and reality that the tourism can accelerate Tibet urbanization. On this foundation I compared the characteristic of urbanization between the East / the West and Tibet. And draw a conclusion that the industry can't be the motive force in the process of urbanization in Tibet. It is the heaviest characteristic that Tibet urbanization process different from the other area. The development on tourism of Niangre village certificate the tourism can be one motive force in the process of urbanization. Then I do some theoretical research on thetourism that can accelerate Tibet urbanization. Lastly, I believe that the development of Tibet should obey the principle of sustainable development. Then I put forward an urbanization model in Tibet—tourism urbanization model. The model can progress step by step and can become true in the later years.
