Jiangsu is a major province of the consuming of forestry products. Now, the willow industry and timber processing industry and their products of Jiangsu are already in the position that has obvious advantage and sticks out all over the country. However, this does not signify that there are not problems in the production field of forestry products at all. How to adjust the Jiangsu market of forestry products and promote the production of Jiangsu forestry products to step onto a new stage, developing the advantage of Jiangsu fully becomes a problem that is worth discussing.The author, through the inquiry of the Jiangsu production condition of forestry products, has found out the following problems existing in the production of Jiangsu willow, artificial board, furniture and other forestry products. The development of Willow industry in Jiangsu is very rapid, but still has such problems as backwardness of production management, light-consciousness of scientific planting and insufficient reserve of planting. The production of artificial board also possesses a position across the country. For the year of 2003, its output accounts for the 14.46% of nation-wide total output, only after Hebei and Shandong. The major problems existing in the production are the big timber materials' gap, small-scale production, backward production technology, instable quality; unreasonable product structure and unfashionable marketing concept. Jiangsu furniture industry has entered industrialization stage of production, but still mainly consists of medium and small enterprises. Furthermore, the lack of technical persons and serious industry break-up also make Jiangsu furniture type backward, innovation intensity weak. The paper-making industry of Jiangsu presents good development impetus. To summarize, the common problem existing in the Jiangsu production of forestry products is: . Enterprise scale is small and can not reach scale-economy production; Technology is backward and product structure is not reasonable; Technical equipment is backward and product quality is low; Management is not scientific and brand consciousness and innovation consciousness are not strong.With the increasing of timber demand and the raising of the economic development and people's living standard of our country, the demand of people for forestry products is increasing drastically, higher requirement unceasingly put forward, which, for the production of Jiangsu forestry products, is not only an opportunity, but also a challenge. The author, based on the analysis of the Jiangsu existent problems of forestry products, proposes the Jiangsu corresponding development strategy of the 4 big forestry products including willow industry, artificial board and furniture, as well as paper products: Enlarge scale of production, from medium and small businesses to economy-scale enterprises; Adjust product structure and develop superior goods; Raise technical equipment level to ensure product quality; Reinforce scientific management, strengthen the enterprise brand consciousness andemphasize innovation ability; Increase the related development and training intensity of talent and at the same time keep up with the world development.All in all, it will be strengthening enterprise competition ability that should be taken as the main line of the Jiangsu production and development of forestry products. The author hopes that this view can provide certain reference for reinforcing the development of the production enterprises of forestry products of Jiangsu to some degree, making some contribution to promoting the healthy development of Jiangsu forestry.
