A Research On Comparison Of The Sichuan-Chongqing Economy

The Sichuan-Chongqing economy plays a very important role in the Western Area Great Development. The goal of this comparison based research is to sort out the strengths of each and increasing the competitiveness to achieve regional booming. The rapid development of the Sichuan-Chongqing economy will help promote the natural resource exploring, economy development, diversified harmony society, and national security in the upper Yanzi River region. The impact to the development the southwest of China, and even to the whole West China development process, is significant.In order to draw a objective and comprehensive conclusion of the economy environments in Chongqing and Sichuan region and to thoroughly understand the strength and weakness respectively, I conduct horizontal and vertical comparisons of both the traditional and new economic indicators between them, on top of that, based on related researches, a quantitative approach is taken, and a set of new economic indicators are developed as benchmark for this regional economy and those in the other developed area national wide.After a comprehensive analysis of the current development in this area and the latest regional economic theory, I find the cooperation and innovation are the where people should focus on. In the current global high-tech economy environment, it is widely agreed that the innovation capability will decide if a regional economy is able to stay competitive in a long run, especially in the various regional economy development phases, the increase depends mainly on the domain industry sectors and innovative enterprises. Cooperation is the best choice for the Sichuan and Chongqing to participate the grand development of West China, and also the precondition for them to join the economy globalization and to get into the fast development track. The cooperation between Sichuan and Chonging is the tendency and a win-win choice.The first part of the paper introduces the present study of economy of Sichuan-Chongqing Grand Area. The second part of the paper provides general information of Chongqing, particularly the basic factors for the economy development,such as population, landscape, relative strength, and the government development strategy. In the third section, I make itemized comparisons by using the latest available statistical data, particularly, on industry structure and its efficiency, employment structure, the contribution ratio of the services sector to the economic increase, average level per person, the degree of the openness of the economy, and some other latest developed indicators. After that in the section four, the economy development level indicators are developed. By the comparison of those indicators between the Sichuan-Chongqing region and the national average, its role in the whole national economy, its relative development level, the strengths and weakness are made very clear. In the fifth section, I conclude the strategy that should be taken based on the former study and the latest regional development theory, some correspondent policies are proposed.
