The Research On Farmer Household Behavior In Structure Adjustment Of Plant Production

Agriculture is fundamental in China, and plant production plays the most important role in agriculture. The stability of plant production is of great society and reality significance for China, a country with more population and less land. With the constant development of the society and economy, the individual and social demand for the agricultural products has gradually changed. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the structure of the plant production. But from the end of year 2003,the price of nationwide agricultural products has been rising, which explains there exists certain problem in plant production adjustment. And based on this, the paper will discuss this problem.Firstly, it briefly explains the topic-selecting, the background, target and significance of the research. Then, it concludes the theory base and current research trends by the home scholars as well as makes some comments on them. The paper mainly analyses and discusses the farmer behavior in the structural adjustment by Applied Behavioral Science Theory, and the author defines the farmer behavior under the rational economic man hypothesis and the demand partial variety hypothesis.Secondly, it makes a conclusion on the direction and current situation of the plant production adjustment, as well as the existing problems, and then it probes into the government behavior in the structure adjustment. It tells the necessity and feasibility for the government's involving into the adjustment process, and emphases that the reasonable involvement of the government is the premise to success.And then, it studies on the farmer behavior emerging in the process of adjustment, especially on decision-making policy, investment policy, variety-choosing policy, technology-choosing policy, etc. We can get the conclusion that the farmer behavior in China is in general rational, and the factors to affect the farmer behavior are various, while the inner and outer cause in the adjustment process have equal influence to the farmer behavior.Fourthly, it makes a demonstration analysis on the farmer behavior in the plant production adjustment in Cangshan County, Shandong Province. It analyses the farmer behaviors in such aspects: land restriction, technology selecting, variety selecting, pesticide use, and fertilizer use, irrigation works building and technology and so on. It draws the conclusions from the Cangshan's adjustment case, and points out that the optimization is key for the plant production adjustment to achieve success.Lastly, it puts forward the measures to optimize the farmer behavior, and get the conclusions that: The optimization of farmer behavior in the adjustment process needs the optimization of government behavior; The optimization of farmer behavior is propitiousto the reasonable adjustment of the plant production; The lead and drive of the government, market, firms, cooperate economic organizations, etc., helps change the farmer behavior manner and promotes the reasonable adjustment of the plant production. And it makes the explanation on the flaws in the recent research and the problems which need solving immediately in the future.
