| Since the economy-centered strategy is enforced in the context of the reform and opening-up policy, China has been making great progress in its national economy and people's living standard. Due to various elements, however, the middle and western part of China are relatively slow in economy developing as compared with the eastern part. The gap between western and eastern is becoming bigger and bigger, which has turned out to be not only economic but also social issue. With China's official entry into WTO, more attention should be paid to handle with the problem of gap in regional economy development in such an open market and more fierce competition. From the perspective of relevant theories, this paper is supposed to analyze regional economy development mode in the context of China's current situation. With the experiences learned from other countries and China's own gain and loss in the open market, this paper proposes some suggestion as to harmonize regional economy development and reduce the gap between eastern and western part to accelerate China's national economy development. |
