With the improved demand of the wireless broadband for high data transmission, the combination of the OFDM and MIMO is considered as an excellent solution MIMO-OFDM technique can improve the channel capacity and transmitted rate obviously and suppressed the multi-path fading, interference and noise. Channel estimation is the key technique of the MIMO-OFDM and affects the performance of the system. This paper analyzes the fading character of the wireless channel and simulated the correlation of the velocity and accuracy in the channel estimation. Then the principle of the MIMO-OFDM and channel estimation technique base on the pilot arrangement is analyzed, and the performance of the block-type and comb-type method is simulated. The LS and MMSE algorithm base STBC is simulated and analyzed, and simulation results show that the MSE and BER performance of the simplified MMSE algorithm based SVD is similar to the classical algorithm, but the complexity is still higher than LS algorithm. According to the channel correlation, a simplified LS algorithm based on STBC is proposed, and the theory analysis shows that the simplified algorithm improved the computationally efficient. Additionally, the paper proposes an improved pilot arrangement scheme, the simulation results proves that the performance of the proposed scheme is similar to the classical 2-symbol scheme and decreases half of the computationally complexity.
