As the Internet, telecommunications, broadcasting and television, the gradual fusion image storage and transmission problem solving the compression technology at home and abroad is gradually become the focus of research. From JPEG, MPEG - 1 to JPEG - 2000, MPEG-4 reflects the image compression technology rapid development.At present wavelets analysis has replaced Fourier analysis and turned into a primary transforming tool of new coding algorithms.Because of the good time-frequency locality of wavelet overcoming defects of traditional transform, based on the wavelet analysis algorithm has occupied a dominant position. Currently the main research algorithm of wavelet questions focused in the followings: How to organization coefficient model to improve the coding efficiency; How to organize streaming to make it has more quality services and realize scalable decoding. Wavelet coefficients of the organization also appeared in different ways: that is according to tree structure and block structure, the former using the cross correlation coefficient, the latter using the coefficients in neighborhood.Based on the analysis of the embedded zero-tree wavelet algorithm, paper through computer simulation experiment gave the best wavelet decomposition layers and the optimal selection of wavelet, and on the analysis of the current tree structure of excellent compression coefficient of organization algorithm, increased wavelet decomposition of the image preprocessing before smooth, put forward a kind of combination template smooth and improvement of wavelet zero-tree coding algorithm. Finally,the algorithm embeded zero-tree wavelet is analyzed and discussed in detail,and a improved algorithm based on zero-tree is proposed,which adjusts the structure of the zero-tree rationally based on classic EZW coding technology.It also changes the original coding flow,which results in the adjustment of proeesses of main seanning,assistant scanning,and decoding. Program realization by the algorithm, the results show that,compared with the existing zero-tree algorithm, improvement measures improved the efficiency of compression, compared with EZW algorithm in certain circumstances compression ratio, reconstruction images of PSNR improved significantly. Proved that based on the improvement measures of the new algorithm is a kind of effective compression method. This template smooth pretreatment algorithm can adopt different smoothing template,it is a method with a wide application value, it can be used for other wavelet zero-tree improved algorithm,and has certain significance for popularization.
