Research And Implementation Of Infiniband Network Interface

Infiniband technology(IB for short below) is a kind of high-speed network interconnection technology with open standard and the highest bandwidth at present. This technology simplifies and accelerates the connection of servers, furthermore, it supports the connection between servers and remote storage and network devices. It has a feature of low delay and high bandwidth. IB has been the main interconnection technology of high-performance computer at present.HCA card of the end system is the significant component of Infiniband architecture. It realizes high-speed match and interconnection between servers and host nodes. It realizes the data processing function of phiscal layer, link layer, network layer and transport layer in IB protocal stack, especially the incorporation of interface and server Virtualization provides a solution plan of I/O Virtualization with low delay and high efficiency. This paper studies the key technologies and implementation mechanisms of the end system of IB network in depth. The main contents studied including:(1)It analyses the implementation model of hardware in IB interface adapter, and discusses and analyses the key technologies of the model in depth, including interface Virtualization, the translation between virtual address and true address, remote DMA(RDMA), offlaod of processing function and inetrrupt moderation.(2)Basing on the ConnectX chip of Mellanox company, it designs and implements the high-performance IB interface adapter—YH-HCA. It presents the collective structure of YH-HCA, the processing procedure of data transmission , the design of key circuit , the design and implementation of drivers, etc.(3)It suggests a implementation model—CI2,that integrates IB interface logic, CPU and North Bridge. CI2 can reduce the processing delay of interface, and support server Virtualization better. Aiming at the data exchange between many virtual machines, it suggests a new switch framework with its scheduling strategy.In a word, the achievement of this paper will play an important role in the arrangement and application of high-performance IB network , and especially in the design and implementation of high-performance IB HCA.
