Electrode is important equipment for refining furnace and electric arc furnace, starting in the middle of ionizing air, or molten metal material for heating. On-site run-time adjustment to the stability of the electrode is not easy work, and more quick stability can not be guaranteed, which must cause the high power consumption and low efficiency problem. It should be very significant to develope high-performance automatic electrode regulator for the steel-making to improve quality, reduce energy consumptionOver the years, the electrode-control systems used traditional PID control mode mostly, which was not very satisfied. As electrode regulation system of the refining furnace is a multi-variable, strong coupling, lagging behind and non-linear systems.This article descripts the physical properties of arc and expatiates the principle of regulation to electrode-conditioning systems on the basis of the study of the Ladle Refining furnce of Tonghua Iron & Steel company, creating arc equivalent mathematical models and some of the electrical static model, and analyzing the various parameters of the model detailedly.This article analyzes and compares the available on the electrode-conditioning system control modes, emphasizing the IAF control and impedance control. Considering the application, the paper focus on the the analysis of the control of various parts of the program, and simulation.Finally, establish a sliding mode control to improve the traditional PID control according with the available data. Different control modes can be adopt in different phases, taking full of use the advantage of every control mode, optimizing the control system and build a efficient simulated model, which can obtain the better performance than tradional control mode, induce the regulation time on-line and get good control system of electrod movement.On the basis of the above study, it can be see that sliding mode control model has solved the issue of three-phase coupling of the electrode through comparing the reference data and feedback, and the important parameter, such as the dynamic response, anti-interference, and robustness have been improved greatly.
